They’re great, kept in touch with me about my dogs while they stayed there. Were able to house them in separate kennels when they needed it, and bathed and defluffed them for me so they’d be less sheddy when I brought them home. I’ll definitely be bringing them back in the future.

After my dog care plans fell through at the last minute, I scrambled to find an alternative option days before my month-long TDY enroute. They went well out of their way to help me and make the experience less stressful.

4 experiences to speak of.

1) I got my dog a deshedding bath and brush. When I went to pick her up she was covered in matted fur. I can’t believe they let that happen to begin with, but then to return my dog in that condition was wild. It took me weeks to brush out the mats. The groomer said she didn’t want to brush the mats because it might be uncomfortable for her (for what it’s worth, she had absolutely no mats at drop off). My guess is they didn’t brush her out before washing her so all the loose fur just matted up. At any rate, 100% proven incapable of anything that resembles a decent grooming.

2) My wife and I watched someone’s dog for two days while they went on a trip and the lodge didn’t have availability to take the dog right away. They were going to be gone for 3 weeks in Japan so after two days we were going to drop the dog at the pet lodge while the owner was already established on their trip. A few hours after we dropped off the owner called us in a panic from Japan saying we have to pick up and watch her dog for the remainder of the 3 weeks because she was anxious and the pet lodge won’t let her stay. Because of an anxious dog? It really is a guessing game whether or not the lodge will be able to handle any level of inconvenience. She was a sweet dog, so not a big deal for us. But the looming stress while you leave the country of “will the pet lodge actually be willing to keep my dog?” is quite a gamble.

3) We had a planned trip and found out our dog needed surgery. It was not urgent and I called the pet lodge to see if they could handle a dog 1 week post-op because the surgery could wait until after our trip. They confidently reassured me it was business as usual and no problem. We decided to schedule the surgery before our trip, leaving our dog 7 full recovery days. After 1 whole night in the pet lodge I was arriving to the airport in Belgium (2.5 hours away) to fly out on my trip and received an urgent call telling me the lodge would be open another 1.5 hours and I needed to come pick up my dog right away and that he could not stay the 8 days we had booked. The stress this put on us absolutely wrecked our trip. It all could have been avoided if they were just up front about their complete lack of ability to handle a dog post-op. I’m not mad at all that they struggled — it’s actually par for the course with them. I was just upset that they knew exactly the care he needed with every detail, reassured me 100% they could take him, then hit the “ah, you know what, never mind” button after 1 night and moments before I was checked through security at the airport.

4) Standard drop off before a long weekend and pickup as planned. Reasonable fee. Decent service. This was the exception, not the rule. Actually a minority of the time.

I had just moved to Germany about a week ago. My dog was flying in a cargo plane to Frankfurt Germany a few days later. I didn’t have a car and had no way of getting my dog from the Frankfurt airport. Emily was very helpful in getting arrangements made to pick up my dog from Frankfurt and bring her back. She was so friendly, helpful, professional and made sure Lucy got here safely. I would highly recommend this service for people in a similar situation.

They were really helpful when I needed to board my cats short notice and the prices were fine. They took really good care of them and I've used their service a few times. Really helpful when you're pinched on time.
